Students of year 5 went to the Bollywood Park which is the celebration of the Mumbai’s legendary film industry to explore and develop the movie making skills through various workshops. They got a glimpse into the fascinating world of movie making and how the special effects work. They got an opportunity to be a part of few scenes of the movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and then merged it with the original trailer. They also learnt few Bollywood dance moves and had an adventurous experience on the rides based on the movies like Lagan, Ra One and Sholay.

Students of 5I introduced the topic through a role-play about a student who was giving up on school because he thought he wasn’t smart enough. His journey of realization through his friends that he shouldn’t get disheartened but should work by trying even harder. The assembly was interactive with student participation in form of a question – answer session at the end of the play. It concluded with a melodious song sung by the students about growth mindset. In our constant endeavor to continue to raise the standards of learning for our children, it is important to set high expectations, and support them to achieve what best they can. New Students of year 5, joined school on 7thof September 11, 2017. As a part of Induction Day, the new children were introduced to the year group teachers and followed by that they were engaged in various fun-filled activities. Children had a fantastic time at the P.E. and they were enthralled when they saw the sprawling football field. Then it was time for Music session where they played Bongo drums which totally excited them. The creative minds were in action when they were asked to plan on a future iconic building they would build in Dubai keeping in mind the climatic and environmental aspects. The senior leadership team of the school met the children in the library and reiterated the basic principles and rules of the school. It was a day filled with excitement and happiness for new birdies, and all teachers welcomed them whole heartedly. The Win-Spark day was thoroughly enjoyed by the Parents, while the Students were the conductors of various activities. It was a fun-filled day when the children came dressed up as astronauts and aliens in bright colors with creativity at its best. J It was a very interactive session with hands on activities like ‘Origami with recycled paper, Creating Space shuttle, Calculating the distance of various planets’ etc, creating a cross-curricular link with Math, science, English, Art and ICT. The students were confident and imparted information to the parents who were the learners. It was a delight to watch parents pondering over the activities with great enthusiasm, wanting to know and excel what they had learnt as a student themselves. The parents shared very positive feedback and students were enthralled with the experience. https://youtu.be/hJFCMRfOTTE The International Day for Tolerance is an annual observance declared by UNESCO in 1995 to generate public awareness of the dangers of intolerance. It is a day for respecting the cultures, beliefs and traditions of others and understanding the risks posed by intolerance. At Winchester school, Tolerance Day was conducted to showcase the importance to accept and to be in unison with each other. The students were engaged in various activities on how to show compassion, empathy and accept each other totally. It was a day filled wonderment and joy when the young minds realized that Unity is strength but to be in Acceptance with each other is a BLISS… “Team work divides the task and multiples the success”. A very energizing morning set up by the students of 5B, where they exhibited with confidence and conveyed message on how TEAMWORK is important in all aspects of our life. Teamwork imparts a plethora of important life skills that help one in all spheres of life. The audience pledged to work together collaboratively both at school and at home too. Assembly ended with a very thought provoking melody “Together we can change the world.” As a part of Bab al Taleem event, students of year 5 enthusiastically put up stalls in the year 5 corridor. Party masks, greeting cards, books, accessories, stationery objects and toys were donated to be sold to raise funds for charity. To promote their sale, students made posters showing the pictures of things being sold with rhyming words and slogans. During this event, to keep things organized, we incorporated the Token System that was offered to students as a means of money to be used at the different stalls. The sale was for a great cause, and all the money that was earned was donated to charity. Students showed great responsibility in selling the coupons, and collecting the money. It was an event filled with fun and excitement.
It was with great enthusiasm that the students of 5A displayed to everyone the nuances of appreciating everyone around us. Children presented their thoughts through a skit and shared the need to be grateful for all the gifts, help and kindness that we receive from people around us.
The children sang an appreciation song where they communicated how much they love and appreciate everyone around them. The proud parents were seen clicking away pictures with great enthusiasm. It was indeed a moment to cherish. |
