The Winchester School organized Sheikh Zayed Painting competition for Year 5 group. Around 34 children from Year 5, participated actively and showed-cased their talents through creative arts. The Purpose of the competition is to celebrate 100 years of legacy and values of His Highness Sheikh Zayed. Children creatively portrayed his dreams and vision through painting/drawing. Children enjoyed the competition and paid tribute through their paintings in honor of late Sheikh Zayed’s remarkable life and inspirational legacy.

The young minds of year 5 joined hands to bring about awareness against Bullying. They performed role-plays and created awareness posters for the same. Good work year 5
Children very enthusiastically competed with each other in the Inter-house Quiz competition. It was very encouraging to watch their competitive spirits soaring sky high. Keep it up year 5!
It was a moment of joy and happiness when the students of 5C, showcased the importance of Cyber safety which is to stay safe online. Children presented their thoughts with a skit where they enacted scenarios which depicted the various ways to keep ourselves safe online. They explained how to protect themselves from strangers online and avoid cyber bullying.
The children also sang a song depicting the importance of online safety called ‘Keep your information Safe’. It was indeed an informative and interactive session. On 21st Jan 2018 The Winchester School organized Sports Day for Year 5 group. Children actively participated in different activities with fun and enjoyment. Working in small teams, the students of Year 5 enthusiastically participated in sack race, relay race, obstacle race and pitch and stick activity. It was an ideal opportunity for our students to develop a better sense of friendliness among the children and develop their team spirit. Children felt strong and active by participating in all the activities. Musical chair activity was organized for parents and teachers. It was great fun to see the children cheer up for teachers and parents. The event was ended with prize distribution to encourage and to motivate the children.
Students introduced the assembly theme of ‘Bullying’ explaining the different types and strategies to deal with. Students were reminded that bullies often choose their target because they are different. They realized that differences are not something which should be made fun of, instead it is a quality to be celebrated. Students of 5F reiterated this concept of bullying through a skit accompanied by a powerful song, which definitely raised awareness among the child on how to prevent and deal with bullying.
Expo 2020 event was aimed to connect the young minds in creating a sustainable future. This event was a platform to foster creativity, innovation and collaborations globally. The students were aware that the World Expos are key meeting point for the global community to share innovation discuss on international importance such as the global economy, sustainability and improved quality of life for the world’s population. Young people’s thoughts on Expo 2020 had been enlightening.
The assembly on Perseverance was a strong message for students, parents and teachers to be patient and full of determination given by the students of 5J. They enacted a play which successfully delivered the message of being persistent and identifying the ways to overcome dips of a situation. Children beautifully sang and danced on a song themed- Never going to give up, faith is stronger than my fear.
This week The Winchester School made students aware of sustainability issues faced by society and the importance of sustainable development. Children learnt about sustainability through fun filled, hands-on activities, and the role they can play in helping to promote it. Working in small teams, the students of Year 5 were designing and creating cloth bags, planning a role play and acting out on how to become Eco Warriors. This week’s engaging activities also included a Science Quiz for students based on Environmental knowledge. It was an ideal opportunity for our students to develop a better understanding and knowledge of clean energy, water sustainability, resource conservation and waste-related issues. To celebrate and promote gratitude students and staff of Winchester School made thank you cards and wrote meaningful thank you messages for the person they wanted to thank. They gave it as mementos to their friends, teachers, bus drivers, conductors, school cleaning staff etc. Children understood the essence of gratitude and how simple words or a small gesture can bring a smile on anybody’s face. Children were grateful to the people who made them happy throughout the year. Children as well as teachers had a gala time doing this activity.It was a fun filled experience for them. |
